The discover IDEA CD 2002 is a collaborative project of the IDEA Partnership Project, the Western Regional Resource Center at the University of Oregon and National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY). The interactive format for this CD was developed primarily by Education Development Center, Inc. This collaborative project is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs.

The impetus for creating this CD as an IDEA resource came from Steven B. Johnson, Associate Superintendent of the Office of Special Education, Oregon Department of Education. Mr. Johnson suggested producing a CD with complete information about the IDEA law and regulations, in an interactive format, along with other resource information for teachers, administrators, and parents. The Oregon Education Association is acknowledged for their support and involvement in the creation and distribution of this information.

This third version of the discover IDEA CD includes new features based on user feedback received via the online feedback form, the customer satisfaction postcard enclosed in this CD, and conferences. The new features are represented by the tabs at the top of the Contents page and include the following resources: IDEA Basics, Info by Topic, Trainer Tips and Search. The "IDEA Basics" section allows users who are new to the subject of educating students with disabilities easy access to introductory materials. Information has been sorted into topical groupings under the"Info by Topic" tab to facilitate the use of this CD for training purposes. As requested, a simple "Search" function has been added. Additional links to related laws have also been added as requested by users.

Contact information for the projects involved in developing this CD is listed below. We welcome your suggestions as to how to make this product more useful to families and to those who work with children with disabilities.
